The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan enters its third generation with a fresh redesign aimed at appealing to American tastes and significant upgrades to modernize its interior. However, VW is streamlining its offerings, making the Tiguan available exclusively as a two-row SUV.
Under the hood, the new Tiguan features an updated turbocharged 2.0-liter EA888 engine, delivering a boost in performance with 201 horsepower, up from the previous 184. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SUV also sees an increase in towing capacity, rising from 1,500 pounds to 1,800 pounds on models equipped with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

Volkswagen hasn’t revealed fuel economy figures yet, but the 2025 Tiguan is expected to be more efficient. Alongside increased power, the new model sheds about 170 pounds thanks to the use of aluminum in its suspension and body structure.
Built on the MQB Evo platform rather than the previous MQB Classic, the 2025 Tiguan showcases all-new sheet metal. While it has a shorter rear overhang, the SUV is larger overall than its predecessor. Its updated design exudes a more athletic vibe, featuring a sharp crease along the body, squared-off wheel wells, and a rear spoiler. Standard 17-inch wheels can be upgraded to 19- or 20-inch options for added flair.

Volkswagen has made its 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit a standard feature across the 2025 Tiguan lineup. This pairs with a 12.9-inch infotainment display as standard, or an optional 15.0-inch unit for those seeking more screen real estate. Two-zone Climatronic automatic climate control is also included, with a three-zone system available as an upgrade.
A new physical volume knob in the center console doubles as a multifunction control, allowing access to drive modes and a feature called Atmospheres, which synchronizes ambient lighting and audio for a cohesive cabin experience. The center console now boasts an increased storage capacity of 7.6 liters.

The 2025 Tiguan adds four more airbags, bringing the total to 10, enhancing its safety credentials. Volkswagen IQ.Drive suite of driver-assistance features is standard, including forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and more. A head-up display is available as an option, while adaptive front lighting comes standard.
