It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a decade since Hyundai transformed the Genesis nameplate into a full-fledged luxury brand. While it feels both recent and distant, the passage of time has allowed even its newer models to undergo mid-cycle updates. The Genesis GV70 crossover is the latest to receive a refresh. The 2026 Genesis GV70 may not be groundbreaking, but it’s undeniably sleeker and more practical than its predecessor-exactly what you’d expect from a well-executed update.

Genesis calls the GV70 its most popular model in North America, and the 2026 version continues to offer two primary configurations: gas-powered and electric. The combustion models retain their existing powertrains, including a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 300 horsepower and a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with 375 horsepower.

The Electrified GV70 receives a significant upgrade, replacing its 77.4-kWh battery with a larger 84-kWh pack. While Genesis hasn’t provided full details, the new battery promises to exceed the current model’s 236-mile range on a single charge.

The refreshed GV70 introduces updates to styling, convenience, and interiors across both ICE and electric models. The highlight inside is a new 27-inch OLED display that seamlessly spans from the driver’s instrument cluster to the infotainment screen, forming a sleek horizontal panel of information and entertainment. Redesigned 19- and 21-inch wheel options are also available.

The 2026 combustion-powered GV70 features a larger, more angular grille for a bolder look. The previously rounded mesh elements beneath the headlights are replaced with sweeping, boomerang-shaped cutouts. Additionally, a new exterior color, Ceres Blue a soft gray-blue shade joins the lineup.

The updated electric GV70 introduces body-color mesh on the front, replacing the black mesh of the previous model. Combined with the optional white interior, the aesthetic evokes a retro-futuristic vibe reminiscent of early 2000s iMacs though it’s still up for debate if that’s a hit or miss.

The main grille now features a chrome guitar-pick shape, with a motorized chrome-covered charging port integrated into it for easier opening and closing. The port includes a heating function for cold-weather charging and new lighting to assist during nighttime or in dimly lit garages—an especially thoughtful addition given the uneven lighting at many American charging stations compared to gas stations.

The electric GV70 is equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, compatible with Tesla Superchargers. A Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter is also included, enabling charging at major non-Tesla networks like ChargePoint and Electrify America-perfect for long trips or rural areas with limited charging infrastructure.

Genesis has introduced a new suspension feature to the GV70 called Highway Body Motion Control, designed to enhance comfort during acceleration and deceleration. This works in tandem with the existing Road Preview system, which uses cameras to detect changes in the road surface and adjusts the suspension for a smoother ride.

Both versions of the GV70 now come with a digital key, allowing drivers to unlock and control the vehicle via their smartphone. Additionally, a new Terrain Mode has been added, offering optimized driving settings for snow, mud, or sand based on road conditions. While the updates to the 2026 Genesis GV70 aren’t groundbreaking, they are practical and refined-perfect for a model in its fifth year of production.
