The 2025 Mazda CX-70 is the latest addition to Mazda's family of new SUVs. The new two-row crossover shares much of its design with the three-row CX-90 and is the next step in Mazda's new focus on premium crossovers. Like the Mazda CX-90, the CX-70 is a plug-in hybrid. Here's what you need to know about the new 2025 Mazda CX-70.
Mazda is focusing more on high-end mid-size SUVs, which was evident when the larger CX-90 was revealed earlier this year. The Mazda CX-70 joins the lineup between the CX-5 and the flagship CX-90. Mazda's SUV lineup seems crowded, but keep in mind that the Mazda CX-9 and MX-30 EV were recently discontinued.

The Mazda CX-70 is essentially a two-row version of the CX-90. The two premium offerings are almost identical in terms of styling, which isn't surprising since they both sit on Mazda's Large Product Group platform and share a lot of that. Although it looks like the Mazda CX-90, the CX-70 model is bolder and punchier than most Mazda models and has a nicer aesthetic.
In terms of exterior, the cabin of the Mazda CX-70 is similar to that of the CX-90, minus the third row. The dashboard line adopts a single driver's eye view, and the top features can be seen even in the base model. The dashboard is marked by two 12.3-inch screens, one of which functions as the instrument cluster while the other provides infotainment. Wireless phone connectivity is standard, while Amazon Alexa's built-in 12-speaker Bose stereo is optional.

The Mazda CX-70 shares its engine with the three-row CX-90. Both models are offered with a 340-hp turbocharged inline-6 mild-hybrid engine or a 323-hp PHEV four-cylinder engine. Both engines have high results for their class, which is not surprising because Mazda has focused on driving in its new SUV. But two engines are important to Mazda, as the PHEV is the first of the brand and the inline-six is the most powerful engine Mazda has put into production.
Like the Mazda CX-90, the CX-70 comes standard with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and blind spot monitoring. Higher trims are available with features such as driver attention systems, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure warning. Prices for the 2025 Mazda CX-70 range from $41,820 for the base trim level to $58,825 for the PHEV Premium Plus.

Surprisingly, the starting price is $3,000 higher than the Mazda CX-90, although the equivalent PHEV model of both starts at $55,775. The Mazda CX-70 competes with the Honda Passport, Toyota Grand Highlander, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer. The 2025 Mazda CX-70 is now available to order on the Mazda website. It should start arriving at retailers this spring.
