The third generation 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan has arrived in Europe. It will arrive in the United States next year, in a long-body version of the car. The exterior design is familiar but with a touch that evokes the VW ID.4 EV, especially the closed upper grille. This model rides on the MQB Evo platform with standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. At least in Europe, VW is introducing several new power options.
The United States' choice remains a mystery. There are two hybrid options with a total of 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) or 268 hp (200 kW). These models also use a 19.7-hour battery that can provide electricity for up to 100 kilometers. The AC charger supports 11 kW and the car can receive up to 50 kW when connected to a DC fast charger.

There are also options with mild hybrids. The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is connected to a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and a 48-volt starter/generator. Stopping the cylinders can allow the engine to run on two pistons.
The third generation Volkswagen Tiguan also offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, producing either 201 hp (150 kW) or 262 hp (195 kW). Turbodiesel option is also available. There is a 2.0-liter engine with 148 hp (110 kW) or 190 hp (142 kW).

Technology upgrades include an updated chassis control system as technology becomes available. It works with different electronic locks. There are also two-valve shock absorbers with appropriate controls. Inside, the VW features a new digital instrument display and an updated infotainment system.
The company's MIB graphics design follows what it used to with Volkswagen ID.4, VW ID.5 and ID.7. Drivers can choose between display modes: Classic, Progressive, Navigation and R-Line. Safety systems in the Volkswagen Tiguan include adaptive cruise control, hill start assist, park distance control, lane assist, lane change assist, and more.
