Lotus today unveiled its new flagship, the 2024 Emeya, at a prestigious event in New York. Known until recently as the Type 133, the fourth-generation electric sedan will be a new challenger to the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan Turbo. It features cutting-edge technology and is the brand's first four-door sedan since the Opel Omega Carlton of the 1990s.
Aerodynamics are at the forefront of the sedan. The 2024 Lotus Emeya features an active front grille, first seen on the Eletre SUV, to reduce drag and improve performance when closed and to cool the battery and brakes when closed. There's also an active front spoiler, an active motorsport spoiler and an active rear wing to maximize low-end power for cutting and driving. The active rear wing is 11.0 inches wide, 3.9 inches wider than Eletre's, producing 474 pounds of netforce at an unspecified speed.

The constant brings center stage in 2024 Emeya. Lotus was the first car manufacturer in the world to use the new type of wire. For the interior design, the brand uses yarn from cotton waste from the fashion and clothing industry. It's not just a luxury style that lasts, but it saves weight compared to leather. Lotus also uses processes such as physical vapor deposition (PVD) for metal finishes on some roofs. You will find Alcantara, ultra-fabric polyurethane, and Nappa leather in other areas.
There's more to it than just the things that last. The KEF 3D surround sound system includes noise cancellation; Externally installed vibration sensors detect tire and suspension movement. Algorithms then generate "voice ringing signals" from speakers to reduce interference.

For the driver, the 55-inch augmented reality head-up display allows quick access to important information. It also has digital mirrors and LiDar modules like Eletre. 2024 Lotus Emeya is built on the same platform as Eletre, a bespoke Premium Electric Architecture (EPA) from Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). It is expected to have a similar opportunity to the Eletre, which can go 373 kilometers in the optimistic WLTP cycle. It has a 102 kWh battery, slightly smaller than the Etre 112 kWh battery, which can be broken into 350 kilowatts. 93 kilometers can be added in about five minutes - 10 to 80 percent takes 18 minutes with a 350 kW DC fast charger.
The performance figures fit into hypercar territory. With 905 horsepower and 726 pound-feet of torque, the sedan can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds. The all-wheel drive electric car's top speed is limited to 159 mph. Power is sent to all four directions via a two-speed transmission, and Lotus says the braking system is "race-friendly." In terms of chassis technology, this adaptive suspension can scan the road 1,000 times per second.

"This is a brand new Lotus, something that has never been seen before. Building on what Lotus has achieved so far, we have created a luxury car that offers exceptional service to drivers, designed to inspire courage and enthusiasm," said Ben Payne, vice president of design at Lotus Group. The company will reveal more details in the fourth quarter of 2023 and production is expected to begin in 2024 at the Geely brand factory in Wuhan, China, where the Eletre is manufactured.
The 2024 Lotus Emeya will arrive in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2024, Lotus vice president and chief commercial officer Mike Johnstone told InsideEVs.
Once the production of Lotus Emeya and Eletre is successful, possibly by 2025, the brand expects that 30% of its total sales will be in the United States, Johnstone said. Lotus has not proven itself in the era of electric cars.

After selling only 576 petrol Emira last year (talking about supply chain issues), the Geely brand has seen more than 17,000 orders this year through the combination of Eletre and Emira. The final production is going well, according to Johnstone. Its current law has broken all previous sales records, and new brands like Lotus Emeya can help turn its fortunes around.
