The new Honda CR-V retains the general silhouette of its predecessor, but gets a distinctive new front end with a bold, wide grille flanked by bright headlights.
Each of the two models available for Europe gets its own grille design. At the rear, changes from the previous generation CR-V are barely noticeable, with the taillights retaining their basic shape but getting a new interior design.

Perhaps most important is the fact that the new CR-V has grown in all areas. For the 2023 model year, the crossover is wider, longer and longer, providing space for its passengers. Specifically, thanks to the 1.6-inch longer wheelbase, there is 0.6 inches of known rear legroom and up to 18 percent more weight reduction depending on the configuration.
Honda seems to be proud of the work they did inside. In addition to being higher than before, the cabin now benefits from better visibility thanks to the lower front corner and flat bonnet. This is combined with the new large greenhouse of the CR-V to "make the sense of openness and provide a sense of security and comfort to all occupants."

While the base-licensed US model has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, there's no clean-burning powerplant available on the old continent. The CR-V hybrid uses a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine, supported by two electric motors.
The new crossover also gets a plug-in for Europe, combining a single electric motor, two electric motors and a larger battery. The range on electric power alone is about 51 kilometers (82 miles). Honda does not provide other information, although it says that the battery can be fully charged in just 2.5 hours.
